About the Theo Botha Carer of The Month Award

All of our hard working heroes in purple are superstars that work tirelessly to support our service users.

Every month, we choose one member of the care team who stand out in their support and care delivery to recognise them with an award. The carer of the month is awarded a trophy which they keep possession of for 30 days and they are given a gift voucher of £50.00 to spend how they choose as a thank you for their efforts.

About Theo Botha

Our award is named after a colleague of LQCS who worked within the care team and who made a significant positive impact to the lives of everyone he visited and everyone who knew him. Sadly, in November 2022, after a hard fought battle with cancer, Theo passed away. Theo served as a shining example of person-centred care and how much of a difference our care workers can make to those we look after so it is only fitting that the carer of the month award is named in his honour as a dedication to a gentleman who genuinely made a difference to this part of the world.

Theo was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa where he was well known as a church organist and ran his own appliance business until he retired in 2015.  He moved to the UK with his wife, 2 dogs and 2 cats in February 2019.  He worked for various caring companies in Buckinghamshire before buying a home in Grimsby in December 2020 and joined LQCS in February 2021.

Theo put his heart and soul into everything in life, whether it was gardening, his music or caring.  He loved working for LQCS and he was passionate about providing the best possible care to those he supported.  He never missed an opportunity to positively impact the lives of others, to try to leave things better than he found them.  A man with a heart of gold who never failed to go the extra mile.
